Problem: After quickly outgrowing its original platforms, Alexa App underwent a third redesign during my time at the Amazon Devices Organization. Finally there were enough resources start from scratch and create something world class.

Building a design system for the app framework from the ground up required working closely with dev from the beginning to ensure component parity.

Putting a11y first

I worked closely with dev to ensure that our component library would support font scaling, resolving many a11y issues and meeting the customers’ needs: over 30% of mobile users have large font mode enabled.
