Overview:

I originally launched the MVP version of Alexa Routines in 2017 as lead UI designer. Over 3 years I continued to scale CX, took over UX ownership and evolved visual design as user base doubled in size. My final project was to establish the North Star CX/VX design direction.

The original launch of routines had a very utilitarian look and user experience. Creating hierarchy and scalability was challenging.

Moving beyond MVP

By 2018 Alexa Routines popularity had grown, with users showing screen grabs of their favorite routine on reddit subs. Its rudimentary UX works for the power user but leaves little for those less comfortable with customizing technology. It was time to infuse the new visual evolution I had been also leading with some much need UX upgrades including premade routines, FTUE, and recommended actions.

First Time User Experience Here the beginning user is led through routine creation with smart suggestions and instructive copy. The design also features the new visual and UI work featuring larger tap target sizes, hierarchy and intentional color.
